BJP new plans for Pune

The ruling BJP in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun pushing for new projects and inaugurations with exactly two months left in its five-year term in the civic body.

Mayor Murlidhar Mohol laid the foundation stone for a Rs 350-crore project to develop a sewage network and two sewage treatment facilities for the 11 villages that were amalgamated into local limits a few years ago as part of this frenzy. “Planned development of newly included areas in PMC is our goal.” As a result, a sewage network master plan for the 11 communities has been established, and the work will be completed in four years,” he stated.

On March 15, the current five-year term of PMC’s elected municipal body will come to an end. Before that, the state Election Commission (SEC) must organize civic elections, which are likely to be postponed due to the epidemic. After the state government opted to expand the geographical boundaries of PMC by include 23 villages and hold elections across three-member panels, the SEC is currently conducting the delimitation procedure.

The BJP also intends to organise a big celebration to mark the start of the much-anticipated Pune Metro project. The party is even hoping to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the project’s inauguration. By the end of January, the Pune Metro is projected to be operational.
